We’re founding members!

We recently became founding members of the FIA HMO Network along with some of the country’s best HMO Managing Agents. I guess that means that if there was a Mt. Rushmore for HMO Managing Agents you might have the displeasure of seeing me up there.

Do we really need another industry body?

There’s a lot of industry organisations in property, right? Pick an acronym and we probably have it covered. Very few of them, though, are HMO-Specific.

That’s why my eyebrows were raised when I first stumbled upon the FIA HMO Network. You see, the sphere of sales and lettings is a very broad church and that’s why the FIA HMO Network is needed. It focuses on the HMO management niche, provides exposure and support to its members and offers a one-stop shop to landlords nationally.

That’s great, but what actually is it?

Neil Baldock, Director of Charles David Casson, founded the HMO Network as a subsidiary of the Federation of Independent Agents (FIA). Here’s what Neil said:

The HMO NETWORK is a national group of Property managers specialising in the management of Houses of Multiple Occupany (HMO’s). It is a first of its kind trade body representing HMO Managing agents with all members fully vetted to ensure they have the correct insurances and credentials and all members are committed to continued improvement of the HMO Industry. Landlords can be sure when they choose an agent who is an approved member of the network that they are choosing an agent they can trust.

He seemed pretty happy to have us on board too:

“it is a pleasure to welcome Portus Lets into the network as our Liverpool Member. Nathan and the Portus Lets brand share all the values of our network and we know that Liverpool property investors will be well looked after by this fantastic brand.”

Continual improvement

The point of all this is to get better. Don’t get me wrong, we’re bloody good at what we do but continuous and relentless improvement is what I’m here for. To open our doors to industry peers, compare processes, take criticism and to improve.

Let’s push things forward!
